Cape Town is known for its numerous tourist and conferencing attractions and facilities; it is 8th on the list of the most popular cities to visit on African and Asian continent. Cape Town, known as the mother city, is located In the midst of its wonderful natural beauty e.g. around the majestic Table Mountain, the golden beaches of the cold Atlantic or warmer Indian Ocean, amongst the beautiful wine estates, nature reserves etc.
It is said that this city is the most beautiful in the world. With all the attractions, the vibrant life and the cultural mixture of Europe and Africa, tradition and modern way of life this is probably so.
But one cannot hide the enormous problems that this city faces. To name but a few:
- The big difference between very poor and very rich
- The high crime rate, drugs and poverty (please check travel tips from the Embassies)
- The very high AIDS infection rate
- The challenge of being a world class city with an apartheid legacy
Cape Town also has a large diversity of Christian and non-Christian religious communities who co-exists peacefully with each other, a true sign of the joy of God with not only nature but also with human culture and religion. We Capetonians are proud of our multicultural society.
